Description

Application
ABS is a commonly used engineering thermoplastic that is widely machined across various industries such as automotive, consumer electronics, toys, and appliances.Parts made from CNC-machined ABS include electronic enclosures, dashboard elements, keyboard keys, decorative housings, functional prototypes, jigs, fixtures, automotive interior trims, and low-volume produced components. The material’s high impact resistance, stiffness, and cost-effectiveness make it the standard option for general-purpose plastic machining.
Strengths
1. Excellent impact resistance
2. Good rigidity & hardness
3. Highly cosmetically versatile
4. Lightweight
5. Cost-effective
6. Good dimensional stability
Weaknesses
1. Poor UV/weather resistance
2. Low heat resistance
3. Solvent sensitivity
4. Lower chemical resistance

Properties

Lead Time
24 – 48 hour turnaround available at 25% surcharge
2 – 5 business days (1–50 units)
5 – 10 business days (50+ units)
Wall Thickness
Minimum 0.5 mm for cosmetic/non-structural parts. Our recommended wall thickness 1.0–3.0 mm for functional components.
Tolerances
ABS machines very consistently, making it one of the easiest plastics to hold tight tolerances on. Large parts (>300 mm) may widen to ±0.15 mm.
Max part size
600 × 400 × 200 mm (X × Y × Z) is standard 3-axis CNC mills upto 1200 × 600 × 500 mm on large-format machines.
